Late yesterday, the McCormack Building began experiencing pipe issues that led to backups and drainage issues. The facilities management team did a comprehensive assessment of the building’s systems and identified a pipe on the third floor of the parking garage that needs to be uncapped to diagnose the situation, a process which required a water shutdown last night for the entire McCormack Building.
The team is currently working with external contractors to address the pipe issue. However, to ensure the safety of the work crew and those who work in or visit the McCormack Building, the following precautionary steps are being taken:
· The McCormack Building will be closed on Friday, March 16, 2018. Employees and visitors will not be allowed to enter the building.
· The McCormack building day care center is closed for the day. The staff have already notified its teachers and parents.
· The 3rd and 4th Floor of the McCormack Building parking garage will be closed all day. Anyone in the McCormack Building or State House with 3rd and 4th Floor parking access are encouraged to use public transportation or find alternate parking for the day.
We currently expect the building will be open on Monday, March 19th. Further updates will be provided.
