BARNSTABLE (MA) March 15, 2018 – At its 4 p.m. conference call on Thursday, the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) reviewed the progress of power restoration on Cape Cod and the status of the regional shelter system.
Significant gains in power restoration have occurred since Thursday morning at 10 a.m. when Eversource reported around 27,000 outages. At 4 p.m. the number had declined to around 7,000.
The decision was made to close the Regional Emergency Shelters atSandwich High School,Barnstable Intermediate School, and the Cape Cod Regional Technical Schooleffective 4 p.m.
The BCREPC will ensure that anyone still in need will be accommodated in alternative shelter settings.
The Barnstable County Multi-Agency Coordination Center will remain in operation until the shelter demobilization is finalized.
